Ammanford school stabbing: Police and ambulances on scene

Terrifying footage is being shared online showing the aftermath of a stabbing at a school in South Wales that has left three people injured. The video shows a schoolgirl slumped on the floor before a student shouts "she's been stabbed" when they realise what's happened.

So far a teenage girl has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

Police say two teachers and a teenage pupil have been taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Police and paramedics, including two air ambulances, rushed to Ysgol Dyffryn Aman school in Ammanford today. The school remains on lockdown after the three people were attacked.

In the video, which the Express has chosen not to share, a female teacher can be heard screaming "get back, get inside now!" as horrified schoolchildren watch on before running inside.

In the background, a member of staff can be seen holding another girl as the pupil injured on the floor is dragged away still wearing her backpack.

The school was quickly put on lockdown, with staff and pupils locking themselves inside classrooms and the kitchen for safety.

Crowds of parents are anxiously waiting outside the school gates, with local businesses offering their premises as safe spaces for pupils who may need a pick up point to get home.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed in a statement released this afternoon that officers are "dealing with an incident at Amman Valley School", adding that three people have been injured and are receiving treatment.

The department also confirmed that one person has been arrested following the incident, and that officers are not seeking anyone else.

A spokesman said: "One person has been arrested and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. Emergency services remain at scene and the school has been closed while investigations continue.

"We are working closely with the school and Carmarthenshire County Council. We are aware that there is footage of the incident currently circulating on social media.

"We would ask that this is removed to avoid contempt of court and distress to those affected. We would ask the people do not speculate while there is a police investigation ongoing."
