Comedian Rosie Jones has appeared to delete her X (formerly known as Twitter) account after being inundated with "hurtful" comments on social media. The 33-year-old has revealed she's been the subject of nasty comments from social media trolls for a while and has now decided to leave the site this morning.

In a since-deleted post, a screenshot from a fan showed Rosie's parting message before leaving X. The post read: "I've not felt a lot of joy from this social platform in a long time, so to come on and see I'm trending, yet again, is exhausting.

"I could say comedy is subjective but the truth is the comments are hurtful. I used to love Twitter but I don't care for this centre of hate. Goodbye."

Rosie's loyal followers flocked to the social media site to express their disdain over the writer being forced off the site and sent her their well-wishes in the hopes she would return soon.

One frustrated person penned: "This is incredibly sad - the brilliant Rosie Jones has been driven off Twitter by trolls and their disgusting comments."

Another fan expressed: "The hate is not about her comedy," while somebody else said: "You are bloody amazing Rosie. I'm so sorry.

"The nastiest people always shout the loudest, sadly, especially on platforms like this one. Look after yourself."

While a fourth added: "Just flicking through replies. Oh wow! It's astonishing that some folk have to type it... they actually waste energy typing stuff when they could simply scroll on. I'm so sorry, I think you are fab."

Earlier this year, Rosie admitted she gets sent abuse from trolls each time she makes a television appearance.

She told The Guardian: "I'd be lying if I said it didn't upset me. Luckily I am surrounded by such a strong network of brilliant friends, family, and colleagues who support me."

Rosie began her career as a writer for panel shows before going on to appear as a guest on various shows such as The Last Leg, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and QI.

She also ventured into acting as she appeared in six episodes of Casualty between 2021 and 2022.

Another feather she's added to her cap is that of an author, as she's written two children's books called The Amazing Edie Eckhart and The Big Trip, which are about an 11-year-old girl with Cerebral palsy.
